Bed race!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMdDLVXiqUw

Here is the link to watch my crazed husband and his group of friends participate in the Columbia Ave Arts District bedrace. It was so fun to watch and to see Haans get together with a great group of guys on this project! Bebe said the bedrace was the highlight of her day, but wondered why her daddy was wearing a white sheet??

Vintage Vixon

Sylvie received this adorable vintage dress from Ms.Mimi and Mr. Jason. She loves wearing it and picks it out from her closet everyday. Usually she wants to pair it with her Gymboree turtle pants (which are navy, lime green and white...) What a combo! Good thing mom intervenes to prohibit the wardrobe gone very bad.

Sometimes you catch your kids doing the most precious things and it's good to preserve it with a picture!

First Day of School

Beatrice was thrilled to be a big kid and go off to school this year. She is used to being away from mom and dad for 9 hours a day while I am at work, so 2 1/2 hours was NO big deal.

On Monday, Sept. 9 she started 4's at FUNschool which stands for First United Methodist where the church is held. Her teachers are Ms. Deb and Ms.Vicki.

On Monday, I went with Bebe from 9-10am for the open house. After 30 minutes she said she was "bored" and asked to go to Jean's house!! I was worried she won't want to go back to FUN, but that was definitely NOT the case. She looks forward to school and asks if it is a school day when she first wakes up. She also has been putting on her own clothes right out of bed if she knows it is a school day. Today she wrote her name along with a bunch of A's, H's and S's (for you know who). Bea also told me she met some new friends, who of course she had to add are "girls". On school days I either run or bike them down to Bea's school since it is right downtown, good exercise and saves gas!

Haircut!

so proud of her new "bob", and so pleased with the sucker!
going to the market with daddy I think she looks older!

It was once again time to cut Sylvie's mane. This was her second haircut and we actually did the "cut" not just a trim. I think she looks adorable with her new bob, so sweet.

Sylvie's birthday

Sylvie hugging Dora pinata The girls anxiously await the guests! Mom tries to stall them with a snack...
Happy birthday to Sylvie...(she likes the sucker more than her ice cream Tommy Turtle cake!)
Her new kitchen sink.
Sylvie wore her dress from Uncle Tavid to the party, it's from Mexico!

Sylvie waited and waited for her turn at the whole birthday shindig...it's amazing that at age 2 they get it! Sylvie loves Dora and wanted a party to reflect her obsession. We had 20 adults and 12 children over to help us celebrate. I was so thankful the weather was nice and we could be outside! Sylvie loved every minute of her party, especially the pinata! Unfortunately, all the good birthday cake shots were taken by my mom and are on shutterfly. Oh well!

Chicago! Labor Day Weekend

For Labor Day we headed to Chicago with our bikes, my mom, and Vroegops. The weather was amazingly beautiful with the bluest of skies. The girls loved staying at Embassay Suites, and I must say having the extra room is SO great for families (worth every penny!). Mom rode with us and we stopped at the Field Museum on our way in. It just so happens that they had a special exhibit on MERMAIDS!! What are the chances? Bea was thrilled. The girls loved gathering corn at the Museum and seeing "Sue" the dinosaur.

On Sunday we biked up to Lincoln Park Zoo, swam in the pool and went to Grand Lux Cafe for dinner. Monday we biked south to McCormick Place and hit Navy Pier for ice cream. Sylvie didn't eat her Ben & Jerry's, so of course Mommy had to step in and help out. Yum!

Sylvie's 2nd birthday was Monday and when we woke up we all jumped in one bed and began singing "Happy Birthday" to her...she promptly said, "NO SINGING, sing when kids and cake!" She wanted us to wait until her party to sing to her, funny!

The girls must have rode the elevator up and down about 1000 times and when we came home cousin Rachel and Beatrice played "Embassay Suites" and pretended to go in an elevator.

We had a wonderful trip and on Tuesday was Sylvie's big party...it was quite a fun weekend!

Sylvie turns 2!

Sylvie finally had her big Dora birthday party on Tuesday. She has been talking about her dora "yata" (pinata) for weeks. She had such fun with all her friends and family exploring around the backyard and having suckers (her favorite part!)
